Close or delete your account or shop

Updated June 23, 2026

Temporarily pause your shop or permanently delete your Fourthwall account

"Closing" your shop can mean two different things: a temporary pause (switching to Coming Soon mode while you regroup) or a permanent deletion (wiping all data and removing the shop for good). Pick the path that fits your situation.

Want to pause, not delete?

If you're not ready to say goodbye, you don't have to. Switch your shop to Coming Soon mode to take it offline while you decide your next move. Your products, settings, and data stay right where they are. Supporters won't be able to browse or buy, but you can pick up where you left off whenever you're ready.

To switch to Coming Soon mode, go to Site Designer > General > Site Status and select Coming Soon. For full instructions, see Change your site's status.

note

Coming Soon mode keeps your shop intact. No data is deleted, and you can go live again at any time.

Permanently delete your shop

If you've decided to move on, follow the steps below to permanently delete your shop and account.

Never went live? Skip ahead

If your shop is still in Coming Soon mode, has no orders, no published products, and no balance, you can skip the balance and fulfillment steps below. You have two options:

  • Leave it as-is. Your shop stays in your dashboard but won't do anything until you decide to launch or delete it. There's no charge for keeping an unused Coming Soon shop.
  • Request deletion. Email support@fourthwall.com from the email address on your account and include your shop URL. We'll confirm and wipe the shop for you. If the request doesn't come from the registered owner email, we'll reach out to verify ownership. You can resolve this by replying from the registered owner email, or by adding the registered owner email as a CC so the owner can reply to confirm.

Step 1: Check your shop balance

If your shop has any remaining balance, make sure you've set up your payout details so we can send the funds before closing your shop. Learn how to set up payouts here: How Do I Get Paid?

Your balance must reach $0 before closure can proceed. Fourthwall does not support forfeiting funds, even for small amounts. If your balance is under the $25 payout threshold, connect Stripe and then email support@fourthwall.com to request a manual payout. See How you get paid for the manual-payout process for balances under $25.

note

This step doesn't apply if your shop has never been live and has no balance. Skip to Step 3.

Step 2: Fulfill orders

If you self-fulfill products, make sure all orders have been properly updated and marked as shipped. If you need to update orders as shipped, follow this help article: How to upload tracking numbers for self-fulfilled orders

note

This step doesn't apply if your shop has no orders. Skip to Step 3.

Step 3: Email our support team

Send an email to support@fourthwall.com letting us know you'd like to close or delete your account/shop. Email us from the same email associated with your account. In this first message, include:

  • Your shop URL.
  • An explicit acknowledgment that the deletion is permanent and irreversible.

If the request doesn't come from the registered owner email, we'll reach out to verify ownership before proceeding. You can resolve this in one of two ways:

  • Reply to us from the registered owner email.
  • Add the registered owner email as a CC and have the owner reply to confirm.

What happens next?

Once you contact support:

  • We'll confirm details of your shop and may ask for feedback to help us improve.
  • If you have a balance, we'll issue your payout. We need to wait until the payout is fully processed before closing your account.
  • If there's no balance or the payout has cleared, we'll:
    • Wipe your site (remove all data)
    • Disable your shop domain
    • Disconnect any custom domains and remove DNS records
caution

Important: Once this process starts, it cannot be undone. If you change your mind later, you'll need to create a brand-new account and shop.

Frequently asked questions

What if I have a small balance and don't want to set up Stripe?

Forfeiture is not supported, even for trivial amounts. Your balance must reach $0 before closure can proceed, which means connecting Stripe Connect and receiving your funds. For balances under the $25 payout threshold, connect Stripe and then email support@fourthwall.com to request a manual payout. See How you get paid for the manual-payout process.

My shop never went live. Do I have to do anything to close it?

No. If your shop is in Coming Soon mode with no orders, no products, and no balance, you can leave it in your dashboard and it won't do anything. If you'd rather have it removed, email support@fourthwall.com from your account email with the shop URL and we'll delete it for you.

Can I pause my shop temporarily instead of deleting it?

Yes. Switch your shop to Coming Soon mode to take it offline without losing any data. Your products, settings, and account all stay intact. See Change your site's status for step-by-step instructions.
