Importing Content from Patreon

Updated October 26, 2026

Migrate your Patreon posts and tiers to Fourthwall so your members never lose access to your content

Switching from Patreon? Fourthwall can import your existing posts, tiers, and media directly into your memberships. Your back catalog carries over, so members who follow you to Fourthwall still get the content they're paying for.

Linking Patreon vs. migrating Patreon content

There are a few separate things you can do with your Patreon account on Fourthwall:

  1. Link Patreon as a social profile. Go to Site design > Style > Social links in the Site Designer and add your Patreon URL. This displays a Patreon icon on your storefront so visitors can find your Patreon page. No content is imported.

  2. Migrate your Patreon content. This is a full import of your posts, tiers, and perks into Fourthwall memberships. The migration prompt appears in the same place, in the Site Designer under Site design > Style > Social links, after you add your Patreon URL. If you want to move your content, follow the steps in the "How to start the import" section below.

Please note: Sharing or connecting your Patreon data with Fourthwall does not automatically import your Patreon content. An import is a separate process that copies your Patreon posts, tiers, and media into Fourthwall.

What gets imported

Fourthwall supports importing the following Patreon post types:

  • Text posts. Written content, with its paragraphs and links. Rich formatting (headings, bold and italics, lists) and images inside the text don't carry over, so review long posts after the import.
  • Image posts. Photos and image files attached to posts
  • Audio posts. Audio files and podcast episodes
  • Video posts. Uploaded video files and Mux-hosted streams
  • Video embeds. Posts with embedded YouTube, Vimeo (videos and live events) or Streamable videos
  • YouTube livestreams. Recorded YouTube livestream posts
  • Link posts. Posts with shared links
  • Poll posts. Community polls and their options

Along with posts, the importer can also bring over your membership tiers, including tier names, descriptions, pricing, images, and associated perks.

What does not carry over

Some Patreon data cannot be imported:

  • Subscriber/patron lists. Your existing Patreon members are not migrated. They need to re-subscribe on Fourthwall.
  • Comments and reactions. Post engagement data stays on Patreon.
  • Earnings and payment history. Financial records remain with Patreon.
  • Other video embeds. Embeds from services other than YouTube, Vimeo and Streamable (for example, Twitch) are skipped.
  • Posts you don't have access to view. The importer only transfers posts marked as viewable in your Patreon export data.
  • File attachments. Files attached to Patreon posts (PDFs, ZIPs and other downloads) aren't imported. Download them before you close your Patreon page.
  • Images inside text posts. Images placed in the body of a text post are dropped. Only the text, paragraphs and links come through.
  • Collections. Patreon Collections aren't recreated. After the import, group video posts into Series, or use post tags.
  • Poll votes and results. Fourthwall recreates polls with their options only. Polls still open on Patreon stay open for up to 7 days after the import, and polls that already closed are closed on Fourthwall too.

How the import works

The import process uses data exported from Patreon. Here is what happens during the migration:

  1. Tier creation. If you choose to import tiers, Fourthwall creates matching membership tiers with the same names, descriptions, and pricing. Tier images and custom perks are carried over too. Only published tiers with a price of $1.00 or more are imported. Imported tiers are published, and visible on your site, as soon as the import creates them. If you already have a tier with exactly the same name as a Patreon tier, the importer uses your existing tier instead and doesn't change its price or perks. The importer shortens tier names longer than 40 characters and descriptions longer than 600 characters, and removes description formatting. Free trials and one-time discounts are off on imported tiers.

  2. Post creation. Each Patreon post becomes a Fourthwall membership post. The importer maps the post title, description, tags, and media to Fourthwall's post format.

  3. Access rules. If tiers are imported, the importer preserves tier-based access. Posts that were available to specific Patreon tiers are assigned to the matching Fourthwall tiers. If no specific tier mapping exists, the post is made available to all tiers.

  4. Publish dates. Each imported post keeps its original Patreon publish date, so your content timeline stays intact.

  5. Duplicate detection. If a post with the same title and publish date already exists in your Fourthwall memberships, the importer skips it. This means you can safely re-run the import without creating duplicates.

note

Imported posts are published with notifications disabled, so your members won't be flooded with alerts for older content.

How to start the import

The Patreon content migration is not a self-serve file upload. You kick it off by submitting a request form or booking a call with a Fourthwall expert.

Step 1: Go to your shop's Site Designer and navigate to Site design > Style > Social links.

Step 2: Click Add social link, choose Patreon and enter your Patreon URL. Under the Patreon field you'll see "Looking for a Patreon alternative? We can import all your posts, tiers & perks!" You don't need to save first.

Step 3: Click Learn more to open Migrate from Patreon to Fourthwall, then choose either:

  • Submit import request to fill in the Fourthwall import request form (powered by HubSpot), or
  • Talk to an expert to book a call with a Fourthwall expert who will walk you through the migration.

Step 4: A Fourthwall team member will reach out to confirm the details and complete the import on your behalf.

Step 5: Review your imported content under Memberships once the import completes.

tip

If you plan to import your Patreon tiers, you don't need to create tiers first. Imported tiers are published right away. The importer reuses an existing tier only if its name exactly matches the Patreon tier's name, so any tier you created with a different name ends up alongside the imported ones. If you aren't importing tiers, set up at least a basic tier structure before the import. For a quick guide, see the Memberships Quick Start Guide.

After the import

Once your content is imported, take a few minutes to review:

  • Check your tiers. Verify that tier names, prices, and perks look right. You can adjust them under Memberships > Perks & tiers.
  • Review imported posts. Browse your posts feed to confirm media and formatting came through correctly.
  • Update access settings. If you restructured your tiers during the move, update which tiers can see which posts.
  • Let your community know. Share the news with your Patreon audience so they can re-subscribe on Fourthwall and pick up where they left off.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import content from Patreon more than once?

Yes. The importer detects existing posts by title and publish date, so duplicate content is skipped automatically. You can re-run the import if you missed anything the first time.

Will my existing Patreon subscribers be migrated?

No. Subscriber lists are not imported. Your patrons need to create new memberships on your Fourthwall shop. Share your Fourthwall membership link with them to make the transition smooth.

What happens to posts that the importer can't process?

Unsupported post types (like video embeds from services other than YouTube, Vimeo or Streamable) are skipped. The import continues with the remaining posts. Your dashboard doesn't list skipped posts. Ask the Fourthwall team member handling your import for the list, then recreate those posts manually if needed.

Do imported posts trigger notifications to my members?

No. All imported posts are published with notifications turned off. Your members won't receive email or push alerts for content that was imported from Patreon.

Are my Patreon tier prices preserved exactly?

Fourthwall uses your Patreon tier's amount as the tier's USD price. If your Patreon tiers are priced in another currency, check the prices after the import and adjust them before members join. A tier's price locks once it has members. Fourthwall automatically calculates prices in other supported currencies (EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and more) from the USD price and rounds them up, so they can be slightly higher than a straight conversion. The tier name, description, and image carry over. The importer shortens names longer than 40 characters and descriptions longer than 600 characters, and removes description formatting.

No. Adding your Patreon URL to Social links only displays a Patreon icon on your storefront. To import your posts and tiers, click Learn more in the hint under your Patreon link, then choose Submit import request or Talk to an expert.
