Payment methods accepted on Fourthwall
Updated October 22, 2026
What customers can use to pay at checkout
Fourthwall supports a broad mix of global and local payment options so your customers can complete their purchase using the methods they already trust. Below is the full breakdown of accepted payment methods on your shop.
Credit, Debit, and Prepaid Cards
Customers can pay with all major card networks:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Discover
Prepaid and gift cards with these same networks are also supported.
Apple Pay and Google Pay
Depending on the device and browser, customers may see:
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Link (Stripe's saved-payment fast checkout)
These methods surface automatically when supported by the customer's device or browser. Link lets customers save their payment info once and check out faster on future orders. Link is shown to only some customers.
PayPal
Customers see PayPal as a payment option at checkout, not on product pages. Fourthwall themes do not include a "Buy Now" PayPal button on product pages. PayPal appears at checkout when Accept PayPal at checkout is checked under Settings > Checkout.
At checkout, customers can choose PayPal and pay with:
- PayPal balance
- Any card linked to their PayPal account
PayPal also works for customer tips and locked message purchases in Memberships.
If you want to signal that you accept PayPal on a product page, add a custom HTML section with a PayPal badge. This shows the PayPal logo or icon as a visual cue only, not a working checkout button. Customers still complete their PayPal payment at checkout.
Note: PayPal has higher payment processing rates at 3.49% + $0.49 per transaction (and an additional 1.5% for payments from outside the USA).
Alipay
Alipay appears at checkout for customers who pay in USD from China or Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
Local payment methods
Local payment methods are offered only to customers in specific countries who check out in the matching currency. Fourthwall sets them up for you, and there's no setting to add more. For a method that needs a currency other than USD, that currency must be turned on under Settings > Checkout > Local currencies.
Supported local methods by country/region
| Country | Local Payment Method |
|---|---|
| USA | Cash App, Amazon Pay (USD) |
| Austria | EPS (EUR) |
| Belgium | Bancontact (EUR) |
| Netherlands | iDEAL (EUR) |
| France | Cartes Bancaires |
| Poland | Przelewy24 (PLN or EUR), BLIK (PLN only) |
| Brazil | Pix (BRL) |
| India | UPI (INR) |
Note: GiroPay is no longer available. Stripe, which processes Fourthwall's local payment methods, discontinued it on June 30, 2024. Germany has no local payment method; customers there can pay by card.
Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)
If BNPL is enabled on your shop, customers may also see:
- AfterPay
- Klarna
These options give customers flexible installment payments. For setup instructions and processing fee details, check the BNPL help article.
Why doesn't a customer see PayPal, Klarna, Afterpay or Link at checkout?
Some payment methods appear only under certain conditions:
- PayPal appears only when Accept PayPal at checkout is checked under Settings > Checkout. It isn't offered when the customer checks out in Indian rupees (INR), Malaysian ringgit (MYR) or Indonesian rupiah (IDR).
- Klarna and Afterpay appear only when buy now, pay later is turned on for your shop, the order is between $10 and $4,000, the order ships to the US, and the checkout doesn't include a membership upsell. Afterpay also isn't offered on orders with only digital items.
- Link is shown to only some customers, so not every customer sees it.
- Local payment methods need the customer's country and checkout currency to match (see Local payment methods).
If a customer still can't pay with a method they expected, email support@fourthwall.com with your shop's URL, the customer's country and the payment method they were looking for.
Payment processing fees
Payment processors charge standard transaction fees that apply to all orders.
You can review the complete breakdown of the transaction fees in this help article or the related blog post.
