Enable WebGL in your browser

Updated October 22, 2026

To enable WebGL, turn on graphics acceleration (also called hardware acceleration) in your browser settings, then restart the browser. The Product Designer needs WebGL to work. WebGL also powers product thumbnail rendering on your shop, so without it, storefront images can appear as blank or grey boxes.

How do I check whether WebGL is on?

Open WebGL Report in the browser you use for Fourthwall. If it says WebGL 2 is supported, WebGL is on and the problem is somewhere else: see Troubleshoot design and rendering issues. If it isn't supported, follow the steps for your browser below.

How do I enable WebGL in Google Chrome?

  1. Type chrome://settings/system in the address bar.
  2. Turn on Use graphics acceleration when available. Older versions of Chrome call it Use hardware acceleration when available.
  3. Click Relaunch, or close and reopen Chrome.
  4. To check, type chrome://gpu in the address bar. Under Graphics Feature Status, WebGL and WebGL2 should say Hardware accelerated.

How do I enable WebGL in Microsoft Edge?

  1. Type edge://settings/system in the address bar.
  2. Turn on Use graphics acceleration when available. Older versions of Edge call it Use hardware acceleration when available.
  3. Close and reopen Edge.
  4. To check, type edge://gpu in the address bar and look at the WebGL status.

How do I enable WebGL in Mozilla Firefox?

  1. Type about:config in the address bar.
  2. Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
  3. Search for webgl.disabled.
  4. If it's set to true, double-click it to change it to false.
  5. Restart Firefox.

How do I enable WebGL in Safari?

Safari (Mac only) has no graphics acceleration setting. If the designer says WebGL is unavailable in Safari:

  1. Update macOS and Safari. The designer needs Safari 18 or later (see the system requirements).
  2. Turn off content blockers and extensions for admin.fourthwall.com, then reload the page.
  3. If it still doesn't work, use Chrome or Edge.

What if WebGL is still blocked?

  • Work or school computer: your administrator may have turned off graphics acceleration. Try a personal computer.
  • Brave: click the Brave icon in the address bar, turn Shields down for the site, then reload the page.
  • Extensions: open the designer in a private or incognito window. If it works there, an extension is blocking WebGL.
  • Graphics drivers: update your browser and your graphics card drivers, then restart your computer.
  • Another browser: if WebGL works in a different browser, the problem is in the first browser's settings.

If WebGL is still blocked, email support@fourthwall.com with:

  • Your operating system (Windows or macOS)
  • Your browser and its version
  • Your graphics card model
  • A screenshot of your WebGL Report result
  • The product designer URL where you see the problem
