# Memberships: FAQ

Answers to common questions about Fourthwall Memberships covering access, billing, tier management, theme customization, products, posts, and analytics.

## How do I access the members' area on my website?

From your homepage, click "Members Only" in the main navigation menu or the account icon in the header. Your admin account logs you in automatically so you can experience the members-only hub from a supporter's perspective. Your account displays a "Verified" badge in the comments section, and you can delete comments.

If you are not automatically logged in or visiting from a different device:

1. Go to *yourshopname.com/supporters* and use the same login modal your supporters see.
2. Enter the email address associated with your admin account.
3. Click outside the input field. "Log in with Fourthwall" will appear and redirect you to the Fourthwall login page.
4. Log in with your Fourthwall dashboard credentials.

After logging in, you are taken directly to the Memberships area.

## How do I add a "Verified" badge next to my account?

The **Verified** badge appears automatically for all admin accounts. No setup is needed.

## Can I customize the verified checkmark badge?

Yes. You can change the badge label, badge colors, username color, and choose which recipient group sees the badge. Go to [**Memberships** > **Settings** > **Badges**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/memberships/settings/badges/?redirect) to configure these options.

## When will my supporters be billed for their subscription?

Members are charged at signup and then on the same date each month (or year). For example, a member who subscribes on October 3 is billed next on November 3. Annual subscribers are billed on the same calendar date the following year: a subscriber who joined October 3, 2022 is billed again on October 3, 2023.

## Can I change the next payment date for a member's subscription?

No. Billing dates are fixed to the original signup date. A member who subscribed on the 3rd is always billed on the 3rd.

## How many times will a past-due member be billed before they lose membership access?

A past-due member loses access immediately after the first failed payment. The system retries the charge four times over three weeks. If any retry succeeds, the member regains access.

## How do I see how much each member is paying per month?

The main Members list does not show per-member payment amounts inline. To view exact charges for a specific member:

1. Go to [**Memberships** > **Members**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/memberships/members/?redirect).
2. Click the member's name.
3. Open the three-dot menu in the top-right and choose **Issue a refund**.
4. The refund modal lists every past subscription charge with its date and amount, labeled "Membership charge." This includes any custom amount the member chose to pay above the tier minimum.
5. Close the modal without confirming a refund if you only want to review the amounts.

## Can I hide a tier?

Yes. You can unpublish a tier so it is no longer visible on your site and no new members can subscribe. Existing subscribers keep their access.

To unpublish a tier:

1. Go to [**Memberships** > **Perks & tiers**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/memberships/perks/).
2. Click the **Settings** icon on the selected tier.

3. Choose **Unpublish tier**.

You can republish the tier at any time by clicking **Publish tier** on an unpublished tier.

## How do I change the price of a tier?

You can only change a tier's price if no active members are subscribed to it. If the tier has active members, unpublish it, create a new tier with the updated price, and let your members know so they can switch via their **Billing** tab. Once no active members remain on the old tier, you can delete it.

## Can I delete a tier with active members?

No. You can only delete a tier that has no active members. Unpublish the tier first, wait for all members to cancel or migrate, then delete it.

## How can I add or update a tier's description?

Go to [**Memberships** > **Perks & tiers**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/memberships/perks/) and click the **gear icon (settings)** on the tier, then select **Edit tier**. You can add or update the description from there.

## Will my site's customization settings carry over if I install the Oasis theme?

Your shop logo, navigation menu, and social links transfer automatically when you enable a new theme. Text, font, and color customizations need to be reapplied to the new theme. Your previous themes and customizations remain available in [**Site design** > **Theme**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/themes/?redirect) for reference or reactivation.

## Why can't I find the Tiers section in my Theme editor?

You are likely using an outdated theme. Install or update to the Oasis theme for full Memberships compatibility. See [Update your shop theme](/getting-started/design-my-storefront/update-shop-theme) for instructions.

## The Oasis theme is stuck in the installation process or is missing sections. What should I do?

Reset your theme:

1. Open the [**Theme**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/themes/?redirect) tab in Site design.
2. Click the three-dot icon on the Oasis theme and choose **Reset to default**.
3. In the modal window, click **Reset to default settings**.

This action cannot be reversed. All customizations on the Oasis theme revert to their defaults.

## How do I add a video background to the hero section?

Use the **Video with text overlay** section in the Theme Editor. This section is available on the Oasis, Lively Classic, and Freestyle themes.

## Can I offer exclusive discounts only for members?

Yes. You can create members-only promotions (for example, 20% off) for all products or for specific products. See [Perks: a guide to rewarding your members](/memberships/getting-started-with-memberships/perks-a-guide-to-rewarding-your-members) for setup instructions.

## Can I have products available only for members?

Yes. You can restrict specific products so only members can purchase them. See [Perks: a guide to rewarding your members](/memberships/getting-started-with-memberships/perks-a-guide-to-rewarding-your-members) for setup instructions.

## Can I add custom subtitles to video posts?

Yes. When you upload a video post, you can add custom subtitle files. Subtitles support a 1-hour delay, so you can release a post and have subtitles appear up to one hour later for additional editing time.

## Can supporters share my posts on social media?

Yes. Each post includes a **Share** icon that lets supporters copy a direct link or share the post to X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. Shared links include preview metadata so posts display correctly in social feeds.

## Can I make posts visible to everyone, not just members?

Yes. When creating or editing a post, set the **Viewable by** option to **Everyone**. This makes the post publicly accessible to all visitors.

## Does the video player support closed captions?

Yes. The video player auto-generates closed captions in English after you upload a video post. No manual transcription is needed.

## Can I embed a Vimeo livestream with live chat?

Yes. When you embed a Vimeo livestream in a post, live chat is supported. Your supporters can participate in the chat during the stream directly from your membership feed.

## Can I filter feed results by multiple tags at once?

Yes. You can apply multiple tags as filters on your membership feed. This lets you and your supporters narrow down results to find specific content.

## Where can I see membership-related profits?

Go to the [Analytics](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/analytics/overview/?redirect) tab and select **Memberships**. The **Memberships profit** chart is shown there. Click **Full Report** to view a detailed breakdown. Other membership-related reports, such as active member counts, are also available on this tab.
