# Automate Workflows with Zapier

Zapier is a workflow automation tool that lets you trigger actions in other apps based on events in Fourthwall, such as new orders or new subscribers. By connecting Fourthwall to Zapier, you can automate tasks like sending Slack notifications for new orders, adding supporter emails to a spreadsheet, or triggering email sequences when someone subscribes.

## How to connect Fourthwall to Zapier

To connect your Fourthwall shop to Zapier, create a new Zap in Zapier and add Fourthwall as the trigger app. Here is how:

1. From your Zapier home page, click **Create** to start a new Zap.
2. In the Zap editor, select the first **Trigger** step to edit it.
3. Search for **Fourthwall** in the app search and select it.
4. Select your Fourthwall account from the dropdown, or click **Connect a new account** to link your shop.
5. Zapier will ask you to authorize access to your Fourthwall shop. Click **Allow** to complete the connection.

Once connected, you can choose any available Fourthwall trigger event (such as new order or new subscriber) to start building your automation.

## How to test triggers with sample data

If you want to skip testing with real data, Zapier provides sample data you can use instead. Follow these three steps:

1. Select your trigger event (for example, **New Order** or **New Subscriber**) and click **Continue**.
2. On the test page, click **Skip test** since you may not have matching data yet.
3. Zapier will load sample data automatically. Click **Continue** to proceed with building your action step.

This approach lets you configure the rest of your Zap without needing a real order or subscriber event first.

## How to test triggers with real data using webhooks

To test with real data, you need to publish your Zap first so Zapier can subscribe to Fourthwall webhooks. Here is the full process:

1. After selecting your trigger event, add a temporary action step (for example, a Slack message) so the Zap is complete enough to publish.
2. Click **Publish** to activate the Zap. This registers the webhook with Fourthwall.
3. Go to your Fourthwall [developer settings](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/settings/for-developers) and find the webhook that matches your trigger event type.
4. Click **Send test notification** to send a test event to Zapier.
5. Return to your Zap and click **Edit zap** in the upper right corner.
6. Select the trigger step and click **Test trigger** to refetch events.
7. Zapier will now show real data from the test notification. Select it and click **Continue** to use it as your sample data.

From here, you can replace the temporary action with your actual automation workflow and republish the Zap.
