# Edit your checkout page

Your checkout page automatically matches the style of your site to maintain a cohesive look. While checkout customization is limited for security reasons, you can adjust several sections to personalize the experience for your supporters. These sections include the checkout skin (color mode), supporter messages, donations, and email marketing consent.

## How to access checkout page settings

To open the checkout editor, go to **Site design** > **Layout** in your Fourthwall dashboard. Then select [**Checkout**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/layout/checkout/?redirect) from the dropdown menu.

This loads the checkout editor, where you can manage all available customization options.

## How to change the checkout skin

The checkout skin controls the color mode of your checkout page. You can set it to one of three options:

- **Auto**. Follows the supporter's browser settings (light or dark).
- **Light mode**. Forces a light background regardless of browser settings.
- **Dark mode**. Forces a dark background regardless of browser settings.

To change the skin, open the checkout editor and select your preferred option from the **Skin** dropdown.

## How to configure the supporter message section

The **Supporter message** section gives supporters a space to share a note with you during checkout. This is useful for receiving personalized messages, and you can respond later with thank-you videos or notes.

To enable or disable this feature, check or uncheck **Enable supporter message** in the checkout editor.

When enabled, you can control how the section appears to supporters:

- **Auto** (recommended). Fourthwall determines the best display based on context.
- **Minimized**. The section appears collapsed; supporters can expand it.
- **Expanded**. The section appears open by default.
- **Hidden**. The section does not appear at checkout.

You can also customize three text fields:

- **Supporter message heading**. The call to action supporters see, such as "Leave a message for [Shop Name]."
- **Supporter nickname placeholder**. The placeholder text in the nickname or handle field.
- **Supporter message placeholder**. The placeholder text in the message box, such as "Leave a message or ask a question."

## How to enable or disable donations at checkout

The **Donation** section lets supporters add an extra donation during checkout. This feature is enabled by default.

You can control how the section appears to supporters:

- **Minimized**. The section appears collapsed; supporters can expand it.
- **Expanded**. The section appears open by default.
- **Hidden**. The section does not appear at checkout.

To disable donations entirely, uncheck **Enable donations** in the checkout editor. You can also edit the preset donation amounts that appear as options for supporters.

## How to edit email marketing consent

The checkout page includes an **email marketing consent box** beneath the email field. Depending on local regulations, this consent box may display in one of two ways:

- **Opt-out**. The box is checked by default. Supporters uncheck it to decline marketing emails.
- **Opt-in**. The box is unchecked by default. Supporters check it to consent to marketing emails.

To disable the consent box entirely, uncheck **Enable email marketing campaign** in the checkout editor. To change the consent text, edit the text field (the default text is "Email me about big announcements and releases").
