# Customize password-protected shops

You can put your Fourthwall shop into **Coming soon** or **Password-protected** mode to control who sees it before you launch. Coming soon mode shows a public holding page with a mailing list signup. Password protection gives select supporters early access with a password.

## How to enable Coming soon or Password-protected mode

To switch your shop out of live mode:

1. From your dashboard, go to [**Site design** > **Layout**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/layout/index/?redirect).
2. Click the **Live** button in the top-right corner.
3. Select **Coming soon** from the dropdown.
4. Click **Save**.

Once saved, the green **Live** button updates to show your shop is in Coming soon mode. Your visitors will see a holding page with a mailing list signup and an optional password entry field.

You can also add a password to give select supporters early access by enabling **Password protection** in the same status dropdown.

**Note:** If your shop is password-protected, you cannot connect your [YouTube Merch Shelf](/manage-my-shop/apps-features-and-integrations/set-up-youtube-merch-shelf-and-feature-products-on-end-screen) until the shop is set to **Live** (public).

## How to customize your Coming soon page

The Coming soon page has its own layout and style settings, separate from your main shop design.

1. In [**Site design** > **Layout**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/layout/index/?redirect), click the page dropdown above the site preview.
2. Select **Coming soon** from the list.
3. Use the **Layout** and **Style** tabs to adjust the look and feel of the page.

Use the **Layout** tab to add, reorder, and edit sections. Use the **Style** tab to adjust colors, fonts, and visual appearance. Changes apply only when your shop status is set to Coming soon.
