# Close or delete your account or shop

"Closing" your shop can mean two different things: a temporary pause (switching to Coming Soon mode while you regroup) or a permanent deletion (wiping all data and removing the shop for good). To permanently delete, you must finalize all payouts, mark any self-fulfilled orders as shipped, and then contact support at [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com). The process cannot be undone once started.

## Want to pause, not delete?

If you're not ready to say goodbye, switch your shop to **Coming Soon** mode to take it offline while you decide your next move. Your products, settings, and data stay intact. Supporters won't be able to browse or buy, but you can pick up where you left off whenever you're ready.

To switch to Coming Soon mode, go to [**Site Designer**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/store-design/general/?redirect) > **General** > **Site Status** and select **Coming Soon**. For full instructions, see [Change your site's status](/manage-my-shop/shop-settings/change-site-status).

Coming Soon mode keeps your shop intact. No data is deleted, and you can go live again at any time.

## Permanently delete your shop

To permanently delete your shop and account, follow the steps below.

### Never went live? Skip ahead

If your shop is still in **Coming Soon** mode, has no orders, no published products, and no balance, you can skip the balance and fulfillment steps. Two options are available:

- **Leave it as-is.** Your shop stays in your dashboard and does nothing until you decide to launch or delete it. There is no charge for keeping an unused **Coming Soon** shop.
- **Request deletion.** Email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) from the email address on your account and include your shop URL. Fourthwall will confirm and delete the shop for you.

### Step 1: Check your shop balance

Your balance must reach $0 before closure can proceed. Fourthwall does not support forfeiting funds, even for small amounts.

If your shop has a remaining balance, set up your payout details so Fourthwall can send the funds before closing. See [How Do I Get Paid?](/frequently-asked-questions/payments-and-pricing/how-you-get-paid) for payout setup instructions.

If your balance is under the $25 payout threshold, connect Stripe Connect and then email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) to request a manual payout. See [How you get paid](/frequently-asked-questions/payments-and-pricing/how-you-get-paid) for the manual-payout process for balances under $25.

This step does not apply if your shop has never been live and has no balance. Skip to Step 3.

### Step 2: Fulfill orders (self-fulfilled products only)

If you self-fulfill products, update all orders and mark them as shipped before requesting deletion. Follow [How to upload tracking numbers for self-fulfilled orders](/create-and-sell-products/how-to-guides/upload-tracking-numbers) to mark orders shipped.

This step does not apply if your shop has no orders. Skip to Step 3.

### Step 3: Email support

Send an email to [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) from the same email address associated with your account. Include:

- Your shop URL
- An explicit acknowledgment that the deletion is permanent and irreversible

If the request doesn't come from the registered owner email, Fourthwall will reach out to verify ownership before proceeding. You can resolve this in one of two ways:

- Reply from the registered owner email
- Add the registered owner email as a CC and have the owner reply to confirm

## What happens after you contact support

Once you contact support, the following steps occur:

- Fourthwall confirms your shop details and may ask for feedback.
- If you have a balance, Fourthwall issues your payout. The account stays open until the payout is fully processed.
- Once the balance is $0 or the payout clears, Fourthwall wipes your site (removes all data), disables your shop domain, disconnects any custom domains, and removes DNS records.

Once this process starts, it cannot be undone. If you change your mind later, you will need to create a brand-new account and shop.

## Frequently asked questions

## What if I have a small balance and don't want to set up Stripe?

Forfeiture is not supported, even for trivial amounts. Your balance must reach $0 before closure can proceed. This means connecting Stripe Connect and receiving your funds. For balances under the $25 payout threshold, connect Stripe and then email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) to request a manual payout. See [How you get paid](/frequently-asked-questions/payments-and-pricing/how-you-get-paid) for the manual-payout process.

## My shop never went live. Do I have to do anything to close it?

No. If your shop is in **Coming Soon** mode with no orders, no products, and no balance, you can leave it in your dashboard. It will not do anything. If you prefer to have it removed, email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) from your account email with the shop URL and Fourthwall will delete it for you.

## Can I pause my shop temporarily instead of deleting it?

Yes. Switch your shop to **Coming Soon** mode to take it offline without losing any data. Your products, settings, and account all stay intact. See [Change your site's status](/manage-my-shop/shop-settings/change-site-status) for step-by-step instructions.
