# Create a collection

A collection in Fourthwall is a curated group of products organized by theme, season, style, or any characteristic you choose. Each collection lives on its own unique page, making it easier for supporters to browse related items. After creating a collection, you can feature it on your homepage or custom pages using the Featured Collection or Collection List sections.

## How to create a new collection

To create a collection, go to **Products** > [**Collections**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/products/collections/?redirect) and click **Create new collection**.

1. Enter a collection name (e.g., "Fall '25 Drops" or "Essential Accessories"). This name becomes part of the collection's URL, so keep it short and descriptive.
2. Click **Save**. The collection is created with **Hidden** visibility by default, giving you time to configure settings before making it public.

## How to make a collection time-limited

Collections can be set to run for a specific time window, useful for seasonal drops or exclusive launches.

1. Open your collection and check the box for **Make this collection time-limited**.
2. Use the date selector to set start and end dates along with specific times.
3. Click **Apply**.

If the start time has already passed, the collection goes live immediately when you save.

## How to add products to a collection

Each collection needs at least one product. To add products:

1. In the collection editor, find the **Products** section.
2. Click **+ Add products** and select the items you want to include.
3. Drag and drop products to reorder them. The first product in the list becomes the collection's main image.
4. Use the three-dot menu on any product to move or remove it.
5. Click **Save**.

Removing a product from a collection does NOT delete the product. It only removes it from that specific group.

## How to set collection visibility

Collections support three visibility options, accessible from the visibility button in the top right corner of the collection editor:

- **Public.** Visible to all site visitors.
- **Hidden.** Only accessible via a direct link. Useful for VIP or pre-launch access.
- **Schedule as Public.** Set a future date and time for the collection to become public automatically.

Click **Save** to confirm your visibility settings.

## Visibility toggle unresponsive or greyed out

If the collection visibility toggle is unclickable or stuck, Fourthwall support agents can switch a collection between **Hidden** and **Public** directly from the admin dashboard on your behalf. Email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) and ask an agent to make the change. They will confirm the result with a link to the affected collection. Browser-side fixes (clearing cache, switching browsers) are an option if you want to handle it yourself.

## Collection sorting modes

Fourthwall provides six sorting modes to control how products appear within a collection:

- **Manual order.** Drag and drop products into your preferred arrangement.
- **Best selling first.** Products with the most sales appear first. Auto-refreshes approximately every 15 minutes with live sales data.
- **Newest products first.** Recently added products appear first, based on creation timestamps.
- **Oldest products first.** Older products appear first, listed in reverse chronological order.
- **Product name A to Z.** Alphabetical sorting from A to Z.
- **Product name Z to A.** Alphabetical sorting from Z to A.

After you select a sorting mode, the system automatically re-sorts the collection whenever products are added, removed, or updated.

## How to change the URL or delete a collection

Click the three-dot menu (...) in the collection editor for additional options:

- **Change URL.** Customize the collection page's URL slug.
- **Delete collection.** Removes the collection entirely. Your products remain untouched and are still available in your catalog.

## Collection display rules and limitations

Collections require manual placement on your site. Creating a collection does NOT automatically display it. You must add it through the Featured Collection or Collection List sections in the site designer.

Key rules to keep in mind:

- **Collections are not auto-displayed.** You must manually add the collection via the Featured Collection or Collection List sections.
- **Featured Collection shows a subset.** It displays only the number of products you configure. Supporters must click **View all** or follow a direct link to see the full collection.
- **Collection List requires manual setup.** Collections do not appear automatically. You must add each collection manually to a Collection List section.
- **Visibility rules apply.** Hidden or scheduled collections are not visible to supporters until made public or the scheduled time arrives.
- **Product order affects display.** Adding new products can shift your top items and change what supporters see first in featured sections.
- **One collection per Featured Collection section.** To showcase multiple collections on a single page, add multiple Featured Collection sections or use a Collection List.
- **Drag-and-drop is page-limited.** Reordering by drag-and-drop only works on the currently visible page.

## Best practices for collections

- Keep curated products at the top of the product list to prevent new additions from pushing featured items down.
- Use Collection Lists to group multiple collections under one section during campaigns or seasonal drops.
- Double-check your collection display after edits or new product additions, since visibility and position settings do not auto-sync.
